Currently, Poprad is one of the most dynamically developing cities in Slovakia. It is located at the foot of the High Tatras, so it rightly belongs to the comparison "Entrance gate to the High Tatras". Poprad offers a wide range of leisure options. Visitors can see the center of Poprad with a museum and gallery, the city monument reserve Spišská Sobota and bathe in the thermal water park directly in the city.


Aquacity Poprad

AquaCity Poprad is a world of fun, relaxation and rest. The Aquapark includes 13 outdoor and indoor pools with thermal water with a temperature of 28 ° C - 38 ° C, water slides and more than 350 water attractions. The water in AquaCity comes from a natural underground source and is fed into the complex. It is cooled from 50 ° C to 36-38 ° C by a technological process. The pools have a stainless steel surface to minimize the need for chlorine. UV radiation is used for its disinfection, which makes it gentle on the skin and eyes. The water in the thermal pools springs from a depth of 1300 m and contains more than 20 different minerals that have a positive effect on human health. It helps with problems with the locomotor and respiratory systems, blood circulation, nervous system and also has beneficial cosmetic effects.

 

Tatra Gallery

 

The Tatra Gallery was established in 1960 and its first seat was Starý Smokovec. After several places of operation, she finally settled in Poprad. At present, it presents its activities in the former steam power plant on Hviezdoslavova Street, but also in other cultural institutions in the Tatra region. Through his acquisition, scientific research and exhibition activities, he processes and introduces to the public the work of mainly visual artists Spiš and the wider East Slovak region, important personalities of Slovak art. By presenting key works of Slovak fine art, making accessible works of past periods as well as works of contemporary domestic and foreign artists, it systematically strives to increase general awareness of traditional and modern tendencies in fine arts.

 

Geopark Neandertal Gánovce

The castle in the village of Gánovce near Poprad is known worldwide as a place where several remains of our ancestors, prehistoric Neanderthals, were found. Plant and animal fossils also appeared near the local travertine hills, and Gánovce is one of the most important archaeological sites not only in Slovakia. Thanks to the activities of the civic association Neandertal Gánovce, the functioning of the freely accessible Geopark Neandertal Gánovce, consisting of information boards and models of prehistoric people and animals, is also developing.

You hear real communication with the control tower, and in order to test this acquired knowledge in practice, it is a matter of course to pilot the aircraft under the supervision of an experienced instructor.

Discover the beauties of Poprad and its picturesque historical parts through a double-decker. The new doubledeckrom bus line will transport passengers and visitors to Poprad via Veľká, Spišská Sobota, Matejovce and part of the city center. Although it is a standard public transport line, it also offers bonuses. It is the only one that has a separate leaflet available informing about the route and the attractions of Poprad. It is the only one with an audio guide about the history and present of the city in SJ and AJ. The Poprad doubledecker offers tourists a 45-minute tasting of Poprad and it is up to them which of the attractions they decide to visit in person after the reconnaissance.

 

Train station

Poprad is a railway junction connecting the Tatra settlements with the main railway line Bratislava - Košice. At the same time, it is the starting station for our historic trams, which will take you for various experiences, according to your choice. Our historic trams depart on selected days from the platform of the Tatra Electric Railways, which you will find on the 2nd floor of the railway station. You can buy travel tickets conveniently on our website or on boarding the train from our train staff, who will accompany you in period uniforms.
