Popradské pleso is located in the Mengusovská valley at an altitude of 1,500 m above sea level. Next to the lake there is the Mountain Hotel Popradské pleso and Majláthova chata. 30 min. on foot from the ball is situated the famous Symbolic Cemetery, which is a place of reverence in memory of those who left their lives in the High Tatras. The easiest access to Popradský pleso is on the road following the blue sign from the tram stop "Popradské Pleso" (1:15 min.) Or from Štrbské Pleso following the red sign (1:30 min.)
Ostrvá

Ostrva (1984m) is one of the lower peaks of the High Tatras, which borders the southeastern side of Poprad Lake. And although the peak of the island is low, it is very popular among tourists. This is due to its excellent accessibility, relatively unpretentiousness and also an amazing view of the Mengusovská valley around Popradský pleso and the adjacent hills. Compared to other Tatra peaks, there is a relatively relaxed hike to the top of Ostrva, without significantly more demanding sections. Therefore, the peak is accessible to slightly less able tourists. However, some condition is necessary, but it is still a peak at an altitude of almost 2000 meters. You can go to the top, for example, from Štrbské pleso, which is probably the most popular option. We can also recommend the trip to children who are at least in some shape and do not mind long walks too much.
Symbolický cintorín

Symbolický cintorín (1,525 m above sea level) is a frequently visited memorial site near Popradský pleso under the western sides of the island, where in the limbo forest there is a symbolic cemetery in memory of those who left their lives in the High Tatras and exceptionally Tatra people who perished in the world mountains. . At that time, there are more than 160 memorial plaques and 50 hand-carved wooden crosses. Originally, memorial plaques to the victims of the High Tatras were more or less scattered in specific places of mountain tragedies. The promoter, as well as the concrete implementer of the idea to establish a symbolic cemetery of mountain victims, was the academic painter Otakar Štáfl, who, together with his wife and several friends, set about building the work in 1936. It was handed over to the public in 1940 with the motto "Dead in memory, alive for warning". Today, the symbolic cemetery is taken care of by the TANAP Administration. Strict criteria now apply to its further expansion for aesthetic and spatial reasons. It is closed to visitors every year from 1 January to 30 June.
Mengusovská dolina

Mengusovská valley is an 8-kilometer-long, branched, tourist-attractive valley. Its waters form the river Poprad. Shorter hikes lead from Štrbské Pleso (red) or from the TEŽ Popradské Pleso stop (blue) to the center of the valley to Popradský pleso (Chata pri Popradskom plese - accommodation, food) and to the Symbolic cemetery (a memorial to the victims of the mountains). At Popradský pleso, the valley is divided into the north-eastern Zlomisková valley and the north-western Mengusovská valley itself. Through it, the sidewalk (blue) ascends to the Hincov basin and to the side basin of the Frog Plies (red). Hinc's basin is lined by the rock amphitheater of Mengusovské štít, Kôprovské štít and Čubrina. In the end, Veľké Hincovo pleso dominates (20.08 ha, depth 53.7 m - the largest and deepest in the Slovak territory of the Tatras). Through Vyšné Kôprovské sedlo it is possible to cross into Kôprovská dolina (blue) or climb to Kôprovský štít (red) with views of the surrounding valleys and neighboring peaks. The frog plies basin is separated from the Hincov basin by the southern ridge of the dominant pyramid peak of Volovec. Around Žabích plies, the footpath (red) ascends through a massive glass threshold (secured by chains) to Dolinka pod Váhou to Chata pod Rysmi (2250 m, the highest alpine hut). Through the Váh saddle, the footpath rises to the most sought-after viewing peak of Rysa (2499.6 m, state border - return required).
From the train by bike directly to the ball

Get off our historic tram at the Popradské pleso stop and take a bike to Popradské pleso. The whole route leads along an asphalt road, which is also a tourist trail and a road for vehicles with a special permit at a certain time. The introduction is challenging and the climb will probably take you a while. Here are a few bends that, when conquered, will reward you with a beautiful view of the surrounding countryside and the Tatra peaks. In the end, the terrain is only slightly undulating. You can relax in several places, or stay at the finish line and refresh yourself in the vicinity of the mountains on the shores of Popradský pleso, or in a mountain throw right at the ball
Zlomisková dolina

Zlomisková dolina is an important northeastern branch of the Mengusovská valley. It is one of the largest valleys inaccessible to tourists, but it is quite often visited by climbers, because it is in this valley that there are several classic Tatra ascents - for example to Ošarpance, Vysoká, Zlobivá, Ganek or Dračí štít. In addition, the Východná Železná brána saddle (2,255 m), which lies at the end of the valley, offers one of the best crossings from the southern side of the Tatras to the north, to Popradské pleso through Zlomiskova dolina and a saddle to Kačačná dolina. That is why climbers are the most frequent visitors to the valley.
